Good morning! 3 things to know for Friday, September 18

Three Things to Know1. It’s Football Friday and Bladen Online will cover the one game involving a Bladen County team. East Bladen is scheduled to play at home tonight against Wilmington Laney. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. We’ll have live tweets from the game @BladenOnline. Also, the Bladen Sports Network will broadcast the game on WODR 105.3 FM or online at coolbeach1053.com. Once-beaten West Bladen has the night off.

2. A parade, games, rides, a car show, food, music, vendors and all capped off with a night of dirt track racing. It must be Dublin Peanut Festival weekend. It’s Saturday. The parade starts at 10 a.m. The day’s activities will be centered around Dublin Primary School. Saturday night’s featured Late Model race will pay the winner $4,000 … which would buy a lot of peanuts.

3. Law enforcement officers may admit their job is sometimes made easier by the criminals themselves. Want an example? Caleb Shay Funke has been charged with burglary after police say he returned to a Twins Falls, Idaho, home for his forgotten car keys and cellphone, reports the Times-News. A woman called police when she found her home ransacked, with a stranger’s cellphone on the bed and a strange car parked behind the property. Police were at the scene when the 22-year-old was dropped off near the vehicle. Officers say Funke told them he loaned the car to a friend and the keys got locked inside. Keys found inside the burglarized house unlocked and started the vehicle. Case closed.

And now you know.
