SoftballJunior Haley Smith blooped a 2-run single over third base Tuesday night to snap a 1-1 tie and lift Heide Trask to a 3-1 Four County Conference victory over visiting West Bladen.

The victory kept the Lady Titans unbeaten in league play at 10-0, while the Lady Knights dropped to 6-3 in the conference and 9-6 overall.

A walk, an error and a pair of sacrifice bunts set up Smith’s 2-out, 2-strike heroics.

Heide Trask had taken a 1-0 lead in the third inning as junior Kyra Holmes singled and came around to score.

West Bladen tied the game in the top of the fourth as senior Amber Bills belted a single and eventually scored when catcher Alanna Ludlum ripped a shot off the third baseman’s foot.

Senior A. J. Johnson pitched a 3-hitter and struck out ten for Trask. Senior Nicole Wyatt allowed 5 hits and 3 walks, while striking out four for the Lady Knights. None of the Trask runs or the West Bladen run was earned.

Bills, Wyatt and sophomore Kassidy Anderson connected for one hit each for West Bladen.

The Lady Knights are scheduled to host Wallace-Rose Hill tonight (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. in a make-up game.
