DUNN – Sophomore Sarah Autry pitched a 2-hit shutout and struck out 7 batters as Midway won the battle of Southeastern Athletic Conference unbeaten softball teams 5-0 Tuesday night.

Midway, now 11-0 in league play and 15-4 overall, will travel to West Bladen Friday night. The Lady Knights dropped to 9-1 in the SAC-7 and 14-6 overall and will celebrate Senior Night Thursday when they host St. Pauls.

Autry slammed a 2-run double to left-centerfield in the 4th inning to cap a 3-run Lady Raider rally. Senior Lainey Hughes walloped a triple to leftfield and scored the game’s 1st run when senior Mallory Baggett smashed a double to centerfield. Jordyn Christopher singled and both Baggett and Christopher scored on Autry’s double.

Hughes drew a 2-out walk in the Midway 5th and scored on senior Krista McLean’s 2-run home run to right field.

Hughes finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a triple and 2 runs scored. Autry batted 2-for-2 with a pair of double, and 2 RBIs, and Christopher was 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Senior Rylee Chadwick pitched an 8-hitter, struck out 6 and walked one for the Lady Knights. Freshman Kali Allen led off the 5th inning with a single for West, and junior Gracie Faircloth singled to begin the Lady Knight 7th inning.
