BLADENBORO – Junior Tatiana Hunt hit for the cycle and batted a perfect 5-5 to lead West Bladen’s 20-hit attack in a 26-6 Three Rivers Conference victory over South Robeson Thursday night.
The game was suspended by rain on March 8th with the Lady Knights on top 8-3.
When the game resumed in the first inning, Reed walked, and Hunt darted home on a passed ball. Cashwell pounded a double into the leftfield corner that scored Reed for a 10-3 lead.
South Robeson scored a run in the second, but the Lady Knights answered with 4 runs in the home second. Hannah Pait smashed a double to centerfield, and Pharr cracked a single to left-centerfield. Hannah Pait raced home on a passed ball, and Singletary’s bunt single scored West, the courtesy runner for Pharr. Hunt walloped a 2-run homer over the leftfield fence to boost the lead to 14-4.
Brisson laced a single to centerfield to begin the West Bladen third inning, and Suggs walked. Hannah Pait’s fielder’s choice retired Brisson. Guyton, the courtesy runner for Suggs, dashed home on a wild pitch. Pharr was hit by a pitch and freshman Lauren Pait walked. Singletary’s fielder’s choice plated Hannah Pait, and Hunt completed her cycle by slamming a double that scored Lauren Pait and Singletary and padded the lead to 18-4.
After South Robeson scored 2 runs in the top of the fourth, West Bladen responded with 8 runs in the home fourth. Brisson drilled a double into the leftfield corner, Suggs walked, and Hannah Pait hammered a double to left that scored Brisson and Guyton, the courtesy runner for Suggs.
Pharr belted a single to centerfield, and Singletary beat out a bunt single. Hunt knocked in Ward, the courtesy runner for Pharr, with a double. Reed walloped a triple to leftfield that scored Singletary and Hunt, and Cashwell crushed a 2-run homer over the leftfield fence for the final 26-6 margin.
Pharr pitched 4 innings to pick up the win and allowed 6 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks while striking out seven. West pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning of relief and struck out one.
Junior Haliya Williamson batted 2-3 to lead South Robeson.
Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 4-1 in the conference and 5-1 overall. West Bladen will travel to South Columbus Friday night.
