Wilmington Supper Optimist rolled to a 12-1 win against Stanley on Monday in a winner’s bracket game in the Diamond Youth Baseball Division 1 AAA (Minors) state tournament at the Clarkton DYB Complex.
Supper Optimist, which has outscored opponents 30-7 in three victories, advances to the final winner’s bracket game Tuesday against Winter Park at 7 p.m.
Winter Park won twice over the weekend by a combined 30-3 score before receiving a third-round bye Monday.
The 12-team double elimination tournament has been reduced to six teams vying for the state title. Tuesday’s elimination games, both beginning at 5 p.m., have Hope Mills against East Duplin and Stanley playing Topsail.
Semifinal games are scheduled Wednesday and the championship game is slated for Thursday.
