Thoughts While ShavingThis is the day, Election Day 2018…..

In the next few hours, voters will make big decisions about the future of this great nation.  If you haven’t voted…please do so today.  Vote for the candidates of your choice, just vote.

Apparently there is a great deal of interest.  About 7,000 Bladen County voters have already cast their ballot, including One Stop and mail-ins.  There are 23,725 registered voters in the county, give or take a few, depending on new-comers.

Looking back, using info from the NC State Board of Elections, year and approximate totals:

2010     12,500

2012     14,600

2014     11,500

2016     14,600

2018     To be determined, today.

A reminder of the Star Telephone Annual Meeting of members, Saturday, November 10 at Bladen Community College.  Registration begins at 9 AM, the session begins at 10.  Hear from the Auditor, info related to the financial status of the Co-Op…the election of 3 directors…..prizes and entertainment by The New Dove Brothers Quartet.  All members are encouraged to attend.  The meeting usually alternates annually between Bladen and Sampson county sites.

NFL action last night….Titans 28-Cowboys 14.

Woodpeckers are coming.  That will be the name of the Fayetteville minor league baseball team.  They begin play in 2019 in a new stadium.

Did you see the story about the lady in Redford, Iowa.  51 year old granny purchased a lottery ticket, then accidently left it in the floor of her sister’s truck for a couple of days before recovering and ‘cashing in’.  She won half of the recent $687 million Powerball prize. Her take home total was $198.1 million lump sum and she has set up a charitable foundation. I guess this is ‘small thinking’, but when the government gets through taking taxes….just seems a little wrong, but she is not complaining and neither would I…Still funny math????

I decided a long time ago if I was going to hold grudges in business, it would turn into a full-time business.  LaVell Edwards
