Thoughts While Shaving

Rain, wind, warmer temps, all in the forecast for today.  And, before the day is over, may even see sunshine.

The trial of Travion Devonte Smith may soon move to the jury room.  Smith is one of three charged in the Raleigh area murder of Bladen County native Melissa Huggins-Jones.  The prosecution rested last Friday and the defense offered no evidence.

Well, well, the presidential circus continues in South Carolina…..the presidential primary is set for Saturday in the Palmetto state.

As I shaved this A.M., I thought about the second circus related to the nomination process for a Supreme Court Justice.  It is my understanding the process is; the President submits a name, the US Senate is to hold hearings and approve or disapprove the nominee.  If approved, the nominee takes a seat and remains for as long as he or she desires.  If the nominee is rejected, the process goes to round two with a new candidate.  It is called checks and balances.

It is my understanding it is the President who provides the candidate, not the next President, or the last President but the President and not the next Senate, but the current US Senate.

So, if I were President, I would submit a name and if I were the Majority Leader of the US Senate, I would hold hearings and vote up or down.  If down, bring on another for as long as it takes.

It is my belief that the reason voters are so impressed with Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders is, they are tired of the political ‘games’ in Washington.  So, let’s assume Republicans decide Trump is not the person they want as their candidate and he runs as an Independent, or what if he does run as the Republican nominee, but some Republicans stay away from the polls and either Sanders or Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee wins, should be interesting.  Sanders, a socialist, or Clinton vs Trump, or Trump & Cruz, or Trump and Rubio.  Sound confusing?

And in the meantime, the US budget goes further in the red, and social security goes broke.  Now, let’s get on with appointing a Supreme Court Justice, as the constitution provides, and take care of other important business…..and that includes social security….

Congratulations on being old enough to collect what remains of social security.

He’s so rich he paid into Social Security to save it.

Velcro – what a rip-off?

My wife just found out I replaced our bed with a trampoline; she hit the roof.
