Thoughts While Shaving for January 29

Oscar Harris, long time Mayor of Dunn, former NC State Senator and White Lake developer died earlier this week. The 80-year-old did not seek re-election in the most recent municipal elections. He was an accountant … and made a huge investment several years ago, building condos on the NC 53 side of White Lake. … News accounts did not give a cause for his ‘apparently’ unexpected death.

Stock market recovered nicely yesterday after a ‘dip’ Monday…

FYI … Early voting (One Stop) begins Thursday, February 13 … Primary Election Day is March 3, 2020.

Questions should be directed to the Bladen County Board of Elections … call or visit…

Political mailings beginning to increase … as are other forms of political advertising…

Need three big tents in DC, one Republican, one Democratic and one for ‘others’. … The ‘show’ is slowly moving forward.

I believe leaders in the US Senate and US House should have some type term limits … examples … President of the Senate and House Speaker. … Just thinking out loud. …. No one has asked for my opinion … and not likely to do so. … But, in America we can ‘spout off’ and we all do … often about issues we know little or nothing about. I just did. … One more … ‘while I have your attention’, same for state legislative leaders.

Weather forecast for today … increasing clouds, with a high near 56 … tonight, mostly cloudy, low around 37 and Thursday’s forecast … mostly sunny with a high near 53. … Enjoy…

A reminder … Bladen County’s own Larrell Murchison will be participating in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama … Saturday. … He recently completed his collegiate career at NC State…

Saw this recently. … “The best leaders are the ones who have the sense to surround themselves with outstanding people and the self restraint not to meddle in how they do their jobs.”

“True leaders always practice the three R’s .. Respect for self, Respect for others, Responsibility for all their actions.” Anonymous

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” John C. Maxwell

“The really expert riders of horses let the horse know immediately who is in control, but then guide the horse with loose reins and seldom uses the spurs.” Sandra Day O’Conner
