New downtown Bladenboro changing the landscape … I think of the businesses the new facility is replacing … the actual location … Hinson’s Super Market, Bridger Drug Store and Doctor’s office, Charlie Bell Ward barbershop, Tom Hales grocery, Robert Hickman Insurance and Bank of Bladenboro … May have been another business or two in the same area…
I began thinking about business, different type businesses in recent years in other towns … Elizabethtown, Clarkton, Dublin, Tar Heel, White Lake, East Arcadia … What am I missing? And, some folks will tell you … nothing has changed…
Every area changes … White Lake included…
Remember … Registers 5&10, Bladen Ace Hardware, Collier Gas Co., Bennett Stone Pharmacy, Fowler Simmons, Cole’s Feed and Seed store on the corner in Elizabethtown … has been a restaurant for several years … Across the street, Corbett’s Men’s Shop, McGill’s Restaurant, Western Auto, DeVane’s Jewelry store, Flower shop, Belks, Bank of Elizabethtown, Cooperative Savings and Loan, Clark Motor Company and 1st Baptist Church … Just testing my memory … Same type situation in Clarkton, Dublin, Tar Heel, East Arcadia and White Lake … My, my, and I hear folks say, nothing has changed … I beg to disagree…
New businesses include Urgent Care, several in the area … Auto Parts, Walmart, fast food restaurants, and other chain type operations, and still many locally owned businesses.
Hopefully making the area a better place to live, work and play … One more thought … No new auto businesses anywhere in the county … If you moved to the area in the last few years or so, you may not have any idea of what I am speaking about…

Tonight, mostly clear, with a low around 62 and windy. Friday, sunny, with a high near 88 and more wind, gusts as high as 24 mph.
