Longtime area coach Linwood Hedgepeth of Columbus County was honored recently by being named to UNCP Hall of Fame. His coaching career compares with the best of the best. Years ago he was an all-star baseball player for the UNCP Braves … later one of the best high school and American Legion coaches ever in the area.

Groundbreaking yesterday in Clinton for a new Star TMC office building. Headquarters for the company for many years was about 3 miles north of the town. Hurricanes, 2 over a couple of years, rendered their headquarters unsafe and no longer usable. Company employees have been housed in various locations in Clinton for the past few years. The new facility will be located on NC 24 West, near a popular retail shopping center … should be completed in a couple of years … Long overdue and much needed … Event was well attended on a cold, windy day.
