He had kinfolks in Bladen County and for many years, a long time ago, he would spend some time near Elizabethtown, NC with relatives between Christmas and New Year’s, hunting deer … He died in July 2020, his spouse died earlier this year … One of his big hits … ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia”…

Bladen County Board of Education agreed recently to name the West Bladen High School gymnasium after long time basketball coach Ken Cross. Actual ceremony scheduled for October 1, 2023, 3 p.m. at the school. Coach Cross’s teams posted over 650 wins in his distinguished career. East Bladen Coach Patty Evers was also recognized for being named one of the head coaches for the McDonald’s All-American game that was played in Chicago…
