East Bladen senior Masion Brooks has been named to the North Carolina roster for the North Carolina/South Carolina Shrine Bowl All-Star game that will be played December 16th at Spartanburg, SC High School.

Brooks, at 5-9, 235 pounds, is versatile and athletic enough to star as a 2-way performer for Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles. He was selected to the Shrine Bowl team as a defensive lineman.

It is on the other side of the ball where most of Brooks’ headlines originate. Friday night the 2022 all-conference performer rushed for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Eagles won their Waccamaw Conference opener 40-15 over South Columbus.

In 5 games this year Brooks has rushed for 717 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2022 he ran for 1,436 yards and 19 touchdowns. In his high school career, Brooks has bruised defenses for 3,089 yards and 42 touchdowns.

Other area performers chosen for the North Carolina team included: West Columbus defensive lineman D.J. Brant, St. Pauls linebacker Jamarcus Smith, Wallace-Rose Hill running back Corbin Kerr and Clinton receiver Josiah McLaurin. Monroe’s Johnny Sowell is the North Carolina head coach.
