The White Lake Police Department has charged three people in connection to a series of larcenies that took place between Oct. 25 and Nov. 7, 2015.

The investigation revealed the suspects were stealing kayaks, yard swings, and lawn mowers, and then selling the stolen items using social media websites.

Kirkland McCray Smith, 19 years old, of 798 White Lake Dr. White Lake, was charged with seven counts of misdemeanor larceny and seven counts of possession of stolen goods. Smith was arrested and booked into the Bladen County Jail December 15, 2015 where he was released under a $5,000 secure bond.

Emily Brooke Thornton, 19 years old, of 798 White Lake Dr. White Lake, has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny and three counts of possession of stolen goods.

David Lee Russ 19 years old, of 477 Cape Owen Manor Rd., Elizabethtown, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor larceny and three counts of possession of stolen goods.

Thornton and Russ have yet to be arrested. Thornton’s location is not known. The White Lake Police Department is asking anyone with information on Thornton to please contact them at 910.862.4057. All calls will remain confidential.
