Here are Three Things to Know for Monday, November 16:
1. The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning until Thursday morning for areas along the Cape Fear River in Bladen County. Minor flooding is forecast for land near the river. In Elizabethtown, the river is expected to fall below flood stage Wednesday afternoon and continue falling to 19.6 feet by Friday evening. Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
2. High school sports officially returns today. The East Bladen cross country team will travel to Red Springs while the West Bladen cross country team will travel to Luther Britt Park in Lumberton. Both meets are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The last time a Bladen County high school competed was in mid-March before seasons were stopped because of COVID-19.
3. Southern Classic golf tournament: Land O Lakes Golf Course, Whiteville, Friday, 10 a.m. shotgun start. The event is a fundraiser for the Boys Scouts in Bladen and Columbus counties. Entry fee is $50 per person. For information or to register, visit capefearcouncilbsa.org/southernclassic/
