Spread the love

Lefthanders can be “right” too, so let’s appreciate the lefties today! Today is International Lefthanders Day, a day to celebrate and appreciate the uniqueness of the 12% of the population that is left-hand-dominant. This day was first observed by Dean R. Campbell, founder of Lefthanders International, Inc, in 1976.

There are perks to being a lefthander, and there are also downfalls. For example, left-handed batters have an advantage in the game of baseball and softball as they are one step closer to first base, but try writing on a dry erase board as you smear each letter your left hand creates.

Many greats from past and present are lefties. The list includes Neil Armstrong, Leonardo da Vinci, Paul McCartney, Bill Gates, Helen Keller, Babe Ruth, Julia Roberts, Mother Teresa, Gordon Ramsey, and so many more.

If you are a lefthander, be proud because you are rare, unique, and awesome!
