The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Bladen County until midnight tonight.

Steven Pfaff, a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Wilmington said, “The Storm Prediction Center has updated today’s Severe Weather Outlook.”

According to Pfaff, a large swath of the Carolinas continues to be highlighted in a Moderate Risk for severe thunderstorms. There is also an increased risk for tornados.

The primary threat remains from widespread damaging thunderstorm winds with a line of storms this afternoon (far inland areas) into this evening (coastal areas). This line of storms will quickly move from west to east across the area.
