Preparations are underway for the Second annual baseball hitting camp to be held Saturday, January 21, at the Grand Slam Batting Cage in Bladenboro.

The camp will feature Paul Faulk, an area scout for the Washington Nationals, and his son, Tripp Faulk who is a coach with Patrick Henry Community College.

Camp participants need to bring with them their batting helmet and bat, if they have one. No cleats or baseball gloves are allowed.

The camp will consist of a discussion with the coaches and then the students will go to different stations set up around the batting cages to practice different drills. The coaches will be walking around and working with the participants throughout the session.

Lunch will be provided and participants receive a free batting camp T-shirt.

Cost to attend the camp is $40 and covers lunch and shirts. There will be two sessions. The first session is for ages 7 to 10 and will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The second session is for ages 11 to 14 and will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information about the camp, call the Bladen County Parks and Recreation Office at 910-862-6770.
