Have outdated or unused medications? Need to safely dispose of syringes and other sharp objects used in administering medication?

Three drug stores in Bladen County are participating in a medication disposal event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are Anderson Drug Store in Elizabethtown, Clarkton Drug and Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Bladenboro.

The disposal event, which is sponsored by New Hanover Regional Medical Center and several other health-related organizations, has 19 dropoff locations throughout southeastern North Carolina.

All medications along with syringes and other medical-related sharp objects will be accepted during the four-hour event.

Other sites participating in the event include:

New Hanover County: New Hanover Regional Medical Mall, New Hanover Regional Medical Center ExpressCare, New Hanover Regional Medical Center Atlantis SurgiCenter, Carolina Beach Police Dept., New Hanover County Senior Resource Center, UNCW Police Dept., New Hanover Medical Group-Myrtle Grove and MedNorth Health Center.

Brunswick County: New Hanover Regional Medical Center Brunswick Forest and Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

Pender County: Pender Memorial Hospital, Island Family Medicine, Village Pharmacy of Hampstead and Black River Medical Center.

Onslow County: Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Duplin County: Vidant Duplin Hospital.
