Trees clean air and water, slow climate change, ease poverty and hunger, prevent species loss and feed the human soul.

An Arbor Day celebration is planned Friday at Bladen Community College to recognize the importance of trees to the environment. The event is sponsored by the Green Technology Committee and is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the gazebo at the center of the main campus. If there’s inclement weather, the celebration will be inside the Student Resource Center Building 7, which is the library.

The public is invited to attend.
