ELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Javon Morris poured in 28 points to lead Fairmont to a 78-53 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen Friday night.

Morris fired in 15 points in the first period to lead the Tornadoes to a 23-12 lead. Eagle senior Adonis Avery drilled in a pair of 3-point baskets, and senior Sincere Smith sank a 3-point shot and a free throw in the opening quarter. Bryon Bowen added a basket.

Senior Deondre Newkirk pumped in a 3-point shot and a basket in the second quarter for East Bladen. Avery and guard Messiah Leach knocked down 3-point shots to keep the Eagles within 39-24 at halftime.

Corry Addison tallied 6 points in the second quarter for Fairmont, and Morris netted 5. Guard Derrick Arnette racked up 8 points in the third period, and Addison and Morris tacked on 6 points each to pad the margin to 63-45.

Smith popped in 2 baskets and 2 free throws for the Eagles in the third quarter. Freshman center Javant McDowell dropped in 2 baskets and a free throw, Avery canned a 3-point shot and a free throw, and Newkirk tossed in a pair of baskets.

Smith connected on 3 free throws in the final quarter, and Bowen threw in a basket and a free throw. Avery added another basket.

Avery topped the Eagle scoring with 15 points, Smith followed with 13 points, and Newkirk finished with 9 points. Bowen totaled 7 points.

Addison finished with 16 points for Fairmont, Jaquan Hinson followed with 11 points, and Arnette totaled 10 points.

East Bladen will play at St. Pauls Tuesday night.
