DUBLIN – West Bladen’s Lady Knights rode a 17-9 fourth-quarter rally to a 58-54 girls basketball victory over Fairmont Wednesday night in Three Rivers Conference action.

The Lady Tornadoes led by 11 points at one time and took a 45-41 lead into the final period. Senior Elizabeth Allbright threw in a basket and made 3 of 4 free throws to lead the Lady Knight rally, and senior Chasitty Lacey sank a basket and a free throw.

Sophmore Lexie Corrothers made 3 key free throws during the rally, and junior Conner Brisson and sophmore Kasee Singletary tossed in a basket each. Senior Patience Parker and sophmore Seniah Johnson hit a free throw each in the period.

“The girls just kept fighting and worked hard to get some big stops on defense,” said West Bladen Coach Brian McCleney. “We were down 8 in the third quarter, and Chasitty hit a big 3-pointer for us, and Elizabeth made some big free throws.”

Johnson dropped in a basket and 2 free throws for West in the first period. Parker and junior Scjada Ellison flipped in baskets, and Brisson and senior Mikayla Winebarger connected on 2 free throws each. Junior Carley Dawson added a free throw as the Lady Knights edged ahead 13-12.

Maya Bellamy’s 8 points sparked Fairmont to a 30-26 halftime lead. Lacey drilled in a 3-point shot and a free throw in the second period, and Parker buried a 3-point shot. Dawson delivered a basket and a free throw, Brisson made 2 free throws, and Corrothers hit one to keep West close.

Lacey bombed in a key 3-pointer and drained two more baskets and a free throw in the third period. Corrothers fired in a pair of baskets, Allbright canned 2 free thows, and Singletary hit one.

“It was a true team effort,” said Coach McCleney. “We had contributions from a lot of different people. We got Kasee and Mikayla back tonight, so we are getting a few more healthy bodies back.”

Lacey racked up 15 points to lead the Knight scoring. Corrothers finished with 8 points, and Allbright totaled 7 points. Brisson and Parker scored 6 points each.

Sariayah Thompson topped all scorers with 16 points for Fairmont. Myaa Thompson added 12 points.

Recognized in Senior Night activities were Lady Knight seniors Mikayla Winebarger, Patience Parker, Elizabeth Allbright, Chasitty Lacey and Indiyah Williams.

With the victory the Lady Knights clinched a home game Saturday in the TRC conference tournament play-in games. West Bladen will host South Columbus Saturday at 2 p.m. West Bladen will close out regular season play Friday night at East Bladen.
