WHITEVILLE – Elizabethtown advanced to the championship game of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Minors Supplemental Tournament with a 14-4 victory over Columbus County Saturday.

Elizabethtown will play Columbus County again in the championship game Monday night at 7 p.m.

Columbus scored a run in the first and two more in the second inning, before Elizabethtown rallied with 4 runs in the home second to take a 4-3 lead. Joshua Dawson and Ahmari White led off with singles, before Claxton Tatum knocked in both runners with a double.

Inman Carson smacked a single that scored Tatum. Hunter Wood cracked a single, and an error on the play scored Carson with the go-ahead run.

Consecutive singles by Finesse Shipman, Aiden Hargrove and Ryan Dove produced an Elizabethtown run in the third inning and padded the lead to 5-3.

Columbus County closed the gap to 5-4 in the top of the fourth, before Elizabethtown closed out the game on the mercy rule with 9 runs in the home fourth.

Singles by White, Tatum and Jaxon Hair started the inning and scored White. Carson hammered a triple that scored Tatum and Hair. Braylon Cromartie’s fielder’s choice plated Carson. Collin Cole smashed a double, and Kewone Maynor was hit by a pitch.

Shipman’s infield hit loaded the bases, and Hargrove walked to force home Cole. Dove slammed a double that scored Maynor and Shipman. Walks to Jake Gooden and Dawson forced home Hargrove, and Dove darted home on a wild pitch to end the game.

Dove batted 3-3 with a double, 3 runs batted in and a run scored for the winners. Tatum finished 2-2 at the plate with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s. White batted 2-2 with 2 runs scored. Carson turned in a 2-2 game with a triple, 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored.

Shipman batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Cole doubled and scored a run. Hargrove, Dawson, Hair, and Wood connected for one hit each. Hargrove, Dawson, Hair, and Maynor scored one run each. Hargrove, Hair and Cromartie drove in one run each.

Carson started on the mound for Elizabethtown.
