ROWLAND – Sophmore Freddy Wooten pitched a one-hitter and East Bladen pounded out 21 hits Friday night in a 23-0 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over South Robeson.

Wooten struck out five batters, walked none and only threw 52 pitches -33 strikes – to pick up the win. The game was stopped by the mercy rule after 4 innings.  Jamearous Mcleod’s third-inning single accounted for the only Mustang hit.

Freshman Raymond Autry batted a perfect 3-3 with 2 doubles and 4 runs batted in, and senior Greyson Heustess also batted 3-3 with a double, an rbi and 3 runs scored to lead the Eagle hitters. Wooten finished 3-4 at the plate with a double, 4 rbi’s and a run scored.

Senior Dan Tatum batted 2-2 with a triple, 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Senior Shy Pone finished 2-3 at the plate with a triple, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Sophmore Brady Hollingsworth batted 2-3 with a double and 2 rbi’s. Sophmore Zach Meares doubled, had an rbi and scored twice.

Makhi Cromartie doubled, had an rbi and scored 3 times. Tyler Hill and seniors Pierce Melvin, Spencer Scott and Davis Alsup connected for one hit each. Sophmore Jacob Priest had 2 rbi’s, and Scott had one rbi. Alsup scored 3 runs. Xavier McKoy scored 2 runs, and Scott, Josh McKoy and Hill scored one run each.

Heustess led off the game with a single and scored when Hollingsworth raked a single to left. Tatum walloped a triple to centerfield that scored Alsup, the courtesy runner for Hollingsworth. Tatum darted home as Meares reached base on an error for a 3-0 East lead.

Josh McKoy walked to begin the Eagle second, and Heustess slapped a single to right. Josh McKoy stole home on the back end of a double-steal. Pone raked a single past first, and Wooten lined a single to right that scored Heustess. Hollingsworth yanked a double to left that scored Pone.

Tatum cracked a single to left that scored Cromartie, the courtesy runner for Wooten, and Alsup the courtesy runner for Hollingsworth. Scott smacked a single to left that plated Tatum. Melvin rapped a single to center, and Heustess clubbed a double to center that scored Scott.

Pone hammered a triple to right that scored Melvin and Heustess. Wooten belted a single to center that scored Pone for a 13-0 Eagle lead.

Xavier McKoy reached base on an error, and Meares walked to start the East Bladen third. Autry drilled a double to right that scored Xavier McKoy and Meares. Melvin reached base on an error, and Hill singled, but Autry was retired at third base. Cromartie smashed a double to right that scored Melvin.

Alsup was hit by a pitch, and Wooten slugged a double that scored Hill and Cromartie. Alsup scored on Priest’s fielder’s choice. Xavier McKoy walked, and Meares knocked in Wooten with a double. Autry drove in Xavier McKoy and Meares with a single to grow the lead to 22-0.

Cromartie reached base on an error, and Alsup laced a single to left. After a Wooten walk, Priest plated Cromartie with a fielder’s choice.

Coach Russell Priest’s Eagles ran their winning streak to eight consecutive games and improved to 6-1 in the TRC and 8-1 overall. East Bladen will host rival West Bladen Tuesday night.
