BLADENBORO – Sophmore Taylor West pitched a 7-hitter and struck out ten batters to lead West Bladen to a 13-10 Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball victory over Fairmont Friday.

The Tornadoes scored an unearned run in the first inning, before West Bladen exploded for six runs in the second. Sophmore Armani Cowan led off with a single, stole 2 bases and scored a run. Taylor Lewis, Amelia Brisson, and West drew walks and scored runs. Kaylee Page and Madison Walters both reached base on errors and scored runs.

Fairmont pulled to within 6-5 before West Bladen answered with 3 runs in the fourth inning. Page reached base on a passed third strike, West walked and Walters laid down a bunt single. Page, West and Walters all scored for a 9-5 Lady Knight lead.

The Lady Knights stretched their lead to 13-6 in the fifth inning. Brisson reached base on a passed third strike, and Page, West and Walters drew walks and scored.

Walters batted 2-3 with a run batted in and 3 runs scored to lead the Lady Knight hitters. Cowan added a hit and a run scored. Page and West scored 3 runs each. Brisson scored 2 runs, and Lewis scored a run. Hailey Guyton and KyLee Ward drove in one run each.

Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights will travel to Red Springs Monday night.
