BLADENBORO – Nick McLamb and Landon Potter combined to pitch a 2-hitter and strike out 11 batters Tuesday night to lead East Columbus to a 7-1 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over West Bladen.

McLamb allowed an unearned run on 2 hits and 3 walks in his 5 innings of work while striking out eight. Potter struck out 3 and walked one in his 2 hitless innings of work.

The Knights scored first with a second-inning run. Senior Jeremy Pait reached on an error. Courtesy runner Derrick Long advanced on a passed ball and raced home when junior Braylon Williamson smashed a double to left field.

An error, a passed ball and Jerome Beck’s run-scoring single tied the game for East Columbus in the third inning.  Two walks, Colton Simmons’ rbi single, and Fisher Reeves run-scoring double put the Gators on top 3-1 in the fourth.

Reeves and Simmons both singled in the sixth inning and came around to score runs for a 5-1 East lead. Two walks, a wild pitch and another Reeves’ rbi single padded the Gator lead to 7-1 in the seventh inning.

Reeves batted 3-4 with 2 runs batted in and a run scored to lead the Gator hitters. Simmons finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Beck singled and drove in 2 runs. J. J. Faulkner also singled and drove in a run.

Williamson hammered the run-scoring double, and junior Dawson Bryan belted a single.

Junior Logan West pitched the first 3 innings for the Knights and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out two. Junior Nolan Bryant worked 1.2 innings of relief and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out one.

Freshman Kaiden Stanley pitched 2 innings and gave up 3 runs on a walk and 2 hits while striking out five. Thomas West pitched 0.1 innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk.

West Bladen will travel to St. Pauls Thursday night.
