BLADENBORO – South Columbus rallied with 4 runs in the fifth inning to defeat West Bladen 6-3 Tuesday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball action.

A bunt single, two walks, two passed balls and Blake Strickland’s run-scoring double keyed the Stallion rally that overcame a 3-2 West Bladen lead.

An error, two walks and Luke Stocks run-scoring single staked the Stallions to a 2-0 first inning lead.

Freshman Devon Strange was hit by a pitch in the Knight half of the first, advanced on a pair of ground-outs and dashed home on a passed ball to trim the South lead to 2-1.

Freshman Bryley Williams led off the fourth inning with a single, freshman Brycen Blackmon walked and freshman Alex Strange was hit by a pitch. Freshman Todd Richardson knocked in Williams and Blackmon with a single to rightfield that vaulted the Knights in front 3-2.

Richardson batted 2-2 with two runs batted in to lead the Knight hitters. Williams and Devon Strange cracked singles and scored one run each. Blackmon scored a run.

Freshman Kaiden Stanley pitched the first 4 innings for West Bladen and allowed 2 unearned runs on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out eight. Freshman Josh Russ worked 0.2 innings of relief and gave up 4 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out one. Freshman Elijah Crabtree retired the only batter that he faced in the fifth inning.

Austin Mayo pitched 4 innings for South and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk while striking out nine to pick up the win. Mason Nealey pitched a scoreless fifth inning.

Strickland doubled home a run and scored a run to lead the Stallion hitters. Nealey, Stocks and E. J. Tisdale added one hit each.
