ELIZABETHTOWN – A 25-7 second-half surge carried Whiteville to a 35-21 Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over East Bladen Friday night.

Nazire Smith fired in 2 baskets and 2 free throws to lead the Eagles to a 7-4 first quarter lead. Teammate Malaki Monroe added a free throw.

Monroe, Ahmad Powell and Sam Inscoe threw in second quarter baskets as the East Bladen lead grew to 14-10 at halftime.

Smith led the Eagle scoring with 7 points. Freshman teammate Malcolm Bolden finished with 4 points.

East Bladen will travel to South Columbus Tuesday.
