BLADENBORO — East Bladen pulled out a hard-fought straight set win over West Bladen on Thursday in a Southeastern Athletic Conference junior varsity volleyball game. The Eagles won 26-24, 25-22.

Mollie Tolar had five service points, six attacks and four blocks to lead the Eagles, who are 2-1 in conference play, 4-4 overall.

Kierra Lewis had five kills, two blocks and three service points for West Bladen, now 3-5 in all games.

After the Eagles won the first set by two, West Bladen jumped out to leads of 6-3 and 12-8. East Bladen tied it at 12-all. The Knights led 22-21 following a net serve by the Eagles, but East Bladen scored the final four points, getting a tip over the net by Mary Frances Sutton to clinch the win.

Jenna Brice had eight service points for East Bladen. Martha Simmons had seven service points, five attacks and a block. Sutton finished with 20 attacks and five service points. Zoe Smith added 6 service points and six attacks. NeNe Ward had five service points and 11 attacks. Aubrie Nixon added three attacks.

For West Bladen, Marlene Crabtree had five service points, including four aces, and three kills. Jahyra Priest had five service points. Marlie Walters had three service points. Kali Allen had two service points and an assist. Emme Bryant had two service points. Natalee Sykes had a service point and two assists. Tah’lea Bethea had two kills.

East Bladen will host East Columbus on Monday in a non-conference match. West Bladen will play at West Columbus on Monday in a non-conference match. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
