WHITEVILLE– Whiteville Central exploded for 14 runs in the 2nd inning and went on to defeat Elizabethtown 16-5 Wednesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

The Cougars scored all 5 runs in the 5th inning. Tykee Hill was hit by a pitch, and catcher Isaiah Lloyd smacked a single. Trey Wilson walked, and DeVance Tatum slammed a double. Fox Sutton belted a single. Hill, Lloyd, Wilson, Tatum and Sutton all scored in the inning.

Tatum batted 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Jadarius McArthur slammed a double. Lloyd and Sutton cracked singles and scored runs. Wilson and Hill also scored runs.

Hooks slugged a home run and a double for Central. J. Todd walloped a home run. G. Canady pitched a 5-hitter and struck out 10 to pick up the win for the Hornets.

Elizabethtown will entertain West Columbus Monday.
