Clarkton native D. J. Mason pumped in 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds Wednesday night, but his Campbell University Camels lost 81-57 to Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC.

Mason connected on 4 of his 7 shots from the field and nailed both of his 3-point attempts. The 6-6 junior also dished out 3 assists.

The West Bladen grad popped in a jump shot, dropped in a lay-up and drilled a 3-point shot to keep the Camels within 22-19 with 8:41 left in the first half. However the Chanticleers closed the half with a 25-4 blitz to open up a 47-23 halftime lead.

Mason began the second half by making 2 free throws. He later sank another free throw and bombed in another 3-pointer with 5:38 remaining.

Saturday night Mason pumped in 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a 63-51 Camel loss to High Point. The junior forward dished out 3 assists, blocked 3 shots and came up with 2 steals.

The Camels will host Charleston Southern Saturday at 4 p.m. in their next game.
