ASH – Carley Dawson blasted a home run, and Conner Brisson doubled as their Lumberton All-Stars defeated Kings Mountain 15-5 in a second round game in the North Carolina Dixie Belles State Softball Tournament.
Lumberton, the defending N. C. State tournament champs, will play at 1 p.m. Monday against the winner of Sunday’s game between Brunswick County West and Brunswick North.
Carley Dawson crushed her solo home run over the scoreboard in centerfield in her first at-bat. She was hit by a pitch and scored in her second trip to the plate. Carley slugged a sacrifice fly to deep left field in her final at-bat.
Her sister Abby Dawson laid down a sacrifice bunt in her first at-bat, then walked and scored in her second trip to the plate.
Brisson drew walks and scored runs in her first two at-bats. In her third at-bat, Brisson hammered a 2-run double that stretched the Lumberton lead to 15-5 and ended the game on the mercy rule.
