DUBLIN – A fourth quarter West Bladen rally came up short Wednesday night as Wallace-Rose Hill held on for a 35-29 Four County Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over the Knights.

The Bulldogs built a 21-9 halftime lead. Sophmore Kerron Washington bombed in a 3-point shot and another basket for the Knights in the first half. Freshman Tyre Boykin tossed in a pair of baskets in the third period as the Knights narrowed the gap to 25-16.

Boykin drove for a pair of lay-ups to begin the final quarter that sliced the Bulldog lead to 25-20. Boykin drained a 3-point shot that pulled West Bladen to within 27-23 midway the period.

The Bulldogs scored a basket, but Washington sank a free throw to narrow the gap to 29-24 with 2:25 remaining. Boykin made 2 free throws and tossed in a runner to keep the margin at 6 points, but the Knights could get no closer.

Boykin lit up the scoreboard with 17 points, and Washington finished with 6 points to lead the West Bladen scoring.

The Knights are 2-3 in conference play and will travel to Midway Friday night.
