East Bladen's A.J. Smith and Cate DeVane
WHITEVILLE – East Bladen’s A. J. Smith and Cate DeVane won the boys and girls cross country races Thursday in the final Three Rivers Conference meet of the year. West Bladen’s girls won the girls team event.
Smith, a senior, won his 5th consecutive race with a time of 20:06. West Bladen’s Jacob Bryan finished 3rd in 30:35. Whiteville’s Brandon Nguyen was clocked in 21:01 and placed second.
DeVane, a sophomore, won for the 3rd time this season with a time of 26:30. West Bladen sophomore Lainey Autry captured 2nd place in 29:40. Teammates Violet Allen (32:59) and Olivia Allen (35:04 finished in 3rd and 4th places.

Whiteville’s Shree Bhagalia was 5th with a time of 36:16 followed closely by West Bladen’s Cassi Humphrey (36:17) and Azillyah McDonald (36:19 in 6th and 7th places.
Smith, DeVane and the West Bladen girls team all qualified for the MidEast Regionals at WakeMed Soccer Park that will be held on Saturday, January 16th. West Bladen’s Keegan Haraldson will also qualify based on his times from previous races.
