The Department of Treasury has started processing the one-time direct payment, $1,200 per single filer or $2,400 for joint filers, part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that I supported. Some people will start receiving their payment as early as this week through direct deposit if their account information is already on file with the IRS. If you don’t have direct deposit set up with the IRS, you will receive your payment in the form of a check, which the IRS will start sending out next month.

Additionally, anyone who receives a Social Security check will receive their payment consistent with how they already receive their social security check through direct deposit or a check in the mail.

If you do not usually file a tax return, please visit the IRS online portal  in order to submit your direct deposit information.

To continue my effort to keep North Carolinians informed, I will be holding four more telephone town halls this week to discuss the response to coronavirus and efforts to protect the physical and economic health of North Carolinians. Below is a schedule for my upcoming telephone town halls.

You can live stream all telephone town halls here.

These times are subject to change so please follow my Facebook and Twitter account for updates.

Thank you for reading, and as always please reach out to my office if you have any questions or need help with a federal agency and please stay safe.

All the best,
