Abbey WaltersBladenboro native Abbey Walters slammed 3 doubles and a single Wednesday as her UNC-Pembroke Lady Braves split a non-conference softball double-header at Pfeiffer.

The Lady Braves won the opener 4-2, while Pfeiffer rallied to take the nightcap to 8-7.

Walters ripped a 2-out double down the leftfield line in the fifth inning of the opener, then smacked a single down the rightfield line in the seventh.

The West Bladen grad slammed a double down the leftfield line in the first inning that sent teammate Jamie Johnson to third base. Johnson scored on a sacrifice bunt.

In the fifth inning, Walters hammered a double to right-centerfield and scored one out later on Toni Nelson’s home run.

Walters saw her first action in the circle in the sixth inning. The junior righthander allowed an unearned run on a walk, a hit and an error. Walters struck out the final batter of the inning.

Walters continues to lead the Lady Braves in hits (13), doubles (5), batting average (.500), on base percentage (.481) and slugging percentage (.692).
