Fort Fisher, North Carolina —Out of an abundance of caution for visitors, volunteers and staff, the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher (NCAFF) will close to the public on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023. The closure is in response to forecasted adverse weather impacts in the Cape Fear Region from Hurricane Idalia.

The NCAFF operations and animal care teams will be onsite to continue the essential work of caring for the animals.

The Aquarium plans to reopen Friday, Sept. 1. NCAFF encourages visitors, volunteers and community members to follow the Aquarium social media pages for updates and information: TwitterFacebook, and Instagram. The Aquarium is also posting information online at NC Aquariums-Fort Fisher.

The Aquarium contacted all visitors who had ticket reservations for Thursday, Aug. 31, with the option to reschedule their visit or to receive a reimbursement.

Advance tickets are required to visit the Aquarium at NCAFF Admissions.
