RALEIGH -West Bladen softball stars Alanna Ludlum and Laikyn Pait played important roles Tuesday as their Region 4 Softball Team posted 2 victories in the Powerade State Games at Middle Creek Park.
Pait clobbered a home run as Region 4 rolled past Region 2 13-3 in Tuesday’s first game. Ludlum knocked in 2 runs with a single and also made a catch at the rightfield fence to rob a Region 2 player of a home run.
In their second game, Region 4 defeated Region 1 17-12. Ludlum connected for 2 hits in the victory, while Pait walked twice and scored twice.
Region 4 will play Region 3 at 11:10 Wednesday in their final round-robin game. With their 2 victories on Tuesday, Region 4 has been assured of a berth in the tournament’s medal games which will begin at 5:15 Wednesday on North Carolina State’s softball field.
West Bladen Coach Joey Autry was selected to be an assistant coach for the Region 4 team but was unable to serve due to a family commitment.
