LUMBERTON- West Robeson American defeated Elizabethtown15-5 Tuesday night to claim the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 AA (Coach-Pitch) Championship.
Both Elizabethtown and West Robeson American have qualified to play in the North Carolina AA (Coach-Pitch) Tournament that begins July 2nd in Tabor City.
Elizabethtown scored 2 runs in the first inning as Tyler Lewis and Davion Lewis laced singles to left-centerfield. Dawson Wright raked a single to left that scored Tyler Lewis, and Ryan Dove’s infield hit plated Davion Lewis.
Drew Sholar reached base on an infield hit to start the Elizabethtown third. Tyler Lewis sliced a single to leftfield, and fielder’s choices by Davion Lewis and Wright brought home Sholar and Tyler Lewis.
C. J. McCracken led off the Elizabethtown fifth with a single, and Isaiah Robinson hammered a double to right field that drove in McCracken.
Tyler Lewis batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Robinson doubled in a run, and Sholar, Davion Lewis, Wright, Smith, Dove, Gooden, Bostic and McCracken collected one hit each.
Sholar, Davion Lewis and McCracken scored one run each. Wright drove in 2 runs, and Davion Lewis and Dove drove in one run each.
