Preparations are underway for the first baseball hitting camp to be held Saturday morning at the Grand Slam Batting Cage in Bladenboro.

The camp will feature Paul Faulk, an area scout for the Washington Nationals, and his son, Tripp Faulk who is a coach with Carson-Newman University.

Bladen County Parks and Recreation’s Patti Miller said camp participants need to bring with them their batting helmet and bat, if they have one. She added no cleats or baseball gloves are allowed.

Miller said the camp will consist of a discussion with the coaches and then the students will go to different stations set up around the batting cages to practice different drills. She said the coaches will be walking around and working with the participants throughout the session.

Lunch will be provided and participants receive a free batting camp T-shirt, said Miller.

Cost to attend the camp is $40 and covers lunch and shirts.

For more information about the camp, call the Bladen County Parks and Recreation Office at 910-862-6770.
