CLARKTON – Duncan Worley pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 17 batters Thursday to lead Williams to a 3-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

The Blue Devils finished their season with a 2-2 record in Waccamaw Division ‘A’ play and 4-6 overall mark. Williams clinched the Division ‘A’ championship with a 4-0 league record and improved to 5-4 overall.

Cameron Fipps walked, and Nathan Edwards drove him in with a 3rd inning single to put the Aggies on top 1-0.

Omar Powell walked and scored the tying run for Clarkton on a fielder’s choice in the 4th inning. Edwards was hit by a pitch, and Worley walked in the Williams 5th inning. Cribb knocked both of them in with a single that put the Aggies ahead 3-1.

Prince Powell and Zahmarion Pone belted 1 single each for Clarkton. Worley only walked 3 batters.

Jerod Smith pitched 5-plus innings for the Blue Devils and allowed the 3 runs on 4 hits and 6 walks while striking out 12. Omar Powell pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief striking out 1 and walking 1.
