TABOR CITY – Junior Walker Sullivan tied the game with a 2-run single then scored the eventual winning run on a wild pitch as South Columbus rallied for a 5-4 non-conference baseball victory over West Bladen Monday night.

West Bladen, now 2-4, will visit North Brunswick Wednesday night. South Columbus, now 3-2, will host Pender Tuesday night.

The Knights carried a 4-1 lead into the 5th inning, but 1-out singles by Cole Edge, Easton McPherson, Daquan Cox and Sullivan plus 2 wild pitches produced 4 runs and vaulted the Stallions in front.

West Bladen scored in the 3rd inning when junior Garrett Dunham roped a single to left field, and freshman Ashton Davis scalded a single to left. An error on the play allowed Dunham to score.

South tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the inning. Edge doubled, and McPherson drove him in.

Junior Cade Allen smoked a single to center field to start the Knight 4th inning. Sophomore Mason Jones reached on an error, and sophomore Josh Dawson walked. Senior Jahmar Richardson walloped a triple to right field that cleaned the bases scoring Allen, Jones and Aidan Russ, the courtesy runner for Dawson, and pushed West on top 4-1.

Richardson’s 3-run triple highlighted the West attack. Davis, Dunham and Allen had the other Knight hits. Dunham, Allen, Jones and Aiden Russ scored runs.

West sophomore Hunter Hester started on the hill and pitched 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Junior Brady Durden worked 1.2 innings of 3-hit scoreless relief and walked 1.
