ROSE HILL – Five West Bladen pitchers teamed up to pitch a 5-inning no-hitter with 12 strike-outs and no baserunners allowed as the Knights defeated Union 20-0 Thursday night.

Seniors Hunter Smith and Bryce Fuller struck out the side in the 1st and 2nd innings respectively. Junior Jordan Hester, senior Aaron Wren and sophomore Cade Allen worked 1-2-3 innings with 2 strike-outs each.

The Knights jumped in front with 4 runs in the 1st inning. Sophomore Brady Durden reached 2nd base on an error and scored when Allen scorched a single through the middle. Hester yanked a single to right field. Smith walked, and an error on sophomore Mason Jones’ grounder plated Allen. Freshman Joshua Dawson lined a single to right that scored Hester and Wren, the courtesy runner for Smith.

West Bladen exploded for 9 runs in the 2nd inning. Brady Durden, sophomore Garrett Dunham and Allen all reached base on errors and Brady Durden and Dunham scored. Jones ripped a single to left that scored Allen, and Dawson hammered a double to center field. An error on junior Will Durden’s grounder plated Jones. Junior Andre Moore smoked a single through the middle to score Fuller, the courtesy runner for Dawson.

Brady Durden smashed a double to right that brought home Will Durden. Dunham drilled a double to center field that scored Moore and Brady Durden. Allen knocked in Dunham with a double to center field that stretched the lead to 13-0.

Fuller led off the Knight 3rd inning with a single to right. Jones clubbed a double to center, and Will Durden cracked a single to right, but the Knights left the bases loaded.

Dunham walloped a double to center field, Allen reached base on an error and Smith was hit by a pitch in the West 4th inning. Jones’ fielder’s choice scored Dunham to pad the lead to 14-0.

Kaden Revels raked a single to left to begin the Knight 5th inning. Wren walked, and senior Hunter Elks laced a single to left. Dunham was hit by a pitch to force home Revels. Allen reached on an error that scored Wren.

Hester walked to force home Elks. An error on Smith’s grounder scored Dunham. Dawson’s fielder’s choice plated Allen, and Revels’ infield hit loaded the bases, before Wren was hit by a pitch that forced home Smith.

The Knights totaled 16 hits in the game. Revels batted 2-for-2 with a run scored to lead the Knight hitters. Dunham doubled twice, scored 4 runs and had 3 RBIs. Allen was 2-for-5 with a double, 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Dawson batted 2-for-5 with a double and 3 RBIs. Jones finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Brady Durden doubled, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. Moore, Elks, Hester, Fuller and Will Durden belted 1 hit each. Moore, Wren, Hester and Smith had 1 RBI each. Wren scored 2 runs, and Moore, Elks, Hester, Smith, Fuller and Will Durden scored 1 run each.

Coach Wade Pait’s Knights improved to 8-2 and will visit South Columbus Friday night.
