WHITEVILLE – Whiteville snapped a scoreless tie with a 9-run 4th inning, and senior Ashton Hammonds pitched a 5-inning 2-hit shutout with 9 strikeouts as the Wolfpack defeated East Bladen 10-0 Tuesday night in Waccamaw Conference baseball action.

East Bladen, now 8-3 in league play and 11-9 overall will host Whiteville Friday night in a return match. The Wolfpack improved to 9-0 in league play and 16-1 overall.

The Wolfpack capitalized on 3 hits, 3 errors and 4 walks to score the nine 4th inning runs. Matthew Hannah, Jake Odham and Caleb Johnson had hits in the inning. Two more errors resulted in the game-ending run scoring in the 5th inning.

Freshman Jayce Hatcher and senior Tyler Johnson belted singles for the only East Bladen hits. Hatcher and senior Lee Barnes shared the pitching duties for the Eagles.
