BLADENBORO — Tar Heel’s Panthers raced to leads of 13-3 and 30-5 Tuesday night enroute to a 43-10 victory over Clarkton School of Discovery in the opening round of the Bladen County Middle School Boys Basketball Tournament.

Coach Ken Cross’ Panthers who are the Waccamaw Middle School Conference’s ‘A’ Division champions improved to 11-1 and will play Bladenboro Thursday night in the tournament’s championship game. The Blue Devils have completed their season.

C.J. Lewis fired in 14 points to lead the Tar Heel scoring. Guard Levi Velasco-Garcia pumped in 9 points, and teammates Demarious Guions and Cedrick McKiver tossed in 7 points each. Jarvis McMillan added 4 points to the Panther attack.

Prince Powell led the Blue Devils with 5 points.
