For this week’s senior spotlight, we sat down with East Bladen High School student Rylee Brice to highlight her high school experience.

Rylee is a highly versatile student who participates in several clubs, such as the Student Government Association, the National Beta Club, and Keyettes. In addition to her club activity, Rylee’s competitiveness has prompted her to play three different sports throughout high school.

Whether on the tennis court, volleyball court, or even cheering on the Varsity Basketball teams in the bleachers, her school pride shines through. She says “feeling like one family” is one of the school’s best values. The strong connection and collaborative environment have made her high school experience forever memorable.

After receiving her high school diploma, she plans to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) to major in nursing. She says that her mother, Joy Brice, influenced her decision to become a nurse. After watching her mother and hearing the stories from her nursing journey through the years, she hopes to become a successful nurse like her mother.

At UNCW, Rylee states that her biggest challenge would be the large class sizes because she is easily distracted, but to overcome this challenge, she plans to get out of her shell more.

While college is a huge step for Rylee, she mentioned that East Bladen High School has provided her with a strong foundation. From early beginnings in health science classes, Rylee found interest in anatomy and physiology, solidifying her medical passion for helping people.

Additionally, through East Bladen’s certified nursing assistant (CNA) course, she has obtained her CNA license.

Rylee is extremely eager for this next step in her life but has learned and hopes to spread to others that “time goes by fast, so make the best of it.”
