BladenSmartStartOn Tuesday, Bladen County’s Smart Start Program will be welcoming a new executive director, Lynn Vick.

Originally from Fayetteville, Vick worked for 17 years as the director of the child care resource and referral agency under the partnership of children of Cumberland County.

“This is the perfect for me to work in a community and try to bring my experience to this area,” said Vick.

Vick has worked with several programs that Bladen County currently has, including Quality Enhancement and Lending Library.

Vick also said that she would like to focus on growing a presence and having good partnerships with the Health Department, Social Services, and the parents of the children involved in Smart Start during her time as executive director.

“I’m excited to be here,” said Vick. “I look forward to building relationships with the town officials and community leaders. I really want to work hard to build that relationships.”

Margaret Lawrence, who served as the interim director for Bladen Smart Start while they searched for an official director for the program, expressed her hopes for the future of Bladen Smart Start under the direction of Vick.

“We hope to make Bladen County a good place for infants to kindergartners to grow,” Lawrence said.

Bladen Smart Start is a program dedicated to helping young children prepare for school. For more information you can visit their website, bladensmartstart.org.
