On Tuesday, April 11th, Bladenboro’s non-profit organization, Boost the Boro, gathered at the Farmers Market for their monthly meeting. With the recent cancellation of Spring Fling, the downtown stage project, and Beast Fest preparation gearing up, the group had much to discuss.

After a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, the meeting began. To start, Treasurer Don White gave his report. The next topic to be discussed was the downtown stage project. The stage that will be available for community use has been in the works for quite a while. At the meeting, it was said that the stage must be completed by June 13th.

Members of Boost the ‘Boro sold tickets for a gun raffle leading up to Spring Fling. Because the event was canceled, those who bought tickets have the opportunity to get their money back, or they can hold their tickets.

Sadly, Spring Fling was canceled. However, the group has another event in the works. The group plans to host a celebration in July with food and music. The event is currently planned to be held on July 14th. More details will be available at a later date.

Lastly, the big topic of Beast Fest was discussed. Many know that this is the organization’s biggest event of the year, and it requires much planning and preparation. Charles Ray Peterson is the chairman for the Beast Fest Committee within Boost the ‘Boro. The organization strives to make the event bigger and better each and every year. At the meeting, the group reflected on Beast Fest 2022 in order to make Beast Fest 2023 “the best yet.”

The deadline is quickly approaching for Boost the ‘Boro’s scholarship opportunities. All applications must be submitted by April 28, and winners will be announced in May. For a copy of the application, click here.
