Wallace-Rose Hill 74, East Bladen 66, Overtime

Johnnie Glasper scored all 20 of his points after halftime to lead Wallace-Rose Hill to a 74-66 Four County Conference boys’ basketball overtime victory over visiting East Bladen Friday night.

The Eagles almost overcame a tremendous disparity at the foul-line. The Bulldogs made 28 of 51 free throws, while East Bladen shot only 20 free throws, making 13. Wallace connected on 22 of 31 free throws in the second half.

“Yea, the foul shots hurt, but we had our chances,” said East Bladen Coach Ken Cross. The Eagles led by four points with 30 seconds left, but two turnovers gave Wallace-Rose Hill the chance to pull even 60-60 at the end of regulation.

In the overtime the Bulldogs outscored the depleted Eagle squad 14-6. East Bladen had lost leading scorer Farrell Murchison, Monterro Graham and Dayvon Powell to fouls.

Murchison who fired in 28 points to lead all scorers rang up nine points in the first quarter as the Eagles built a 15-11 lead. Murchison threw in 6 more points in the second period, and sophomore guard Eian Hines added 4 more as the Eagles rode a 16-7 surge to a 31-18 halftime lead.

Eian Hines drilled a 3-point shot and scored 5 points in the third quarter, and Murchison tacked on 4 points in the period as the Eagles ended the period with a 46-38 lead.

The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 22-14 in the final quarter to tie the score 60-60.

Eian Hines finished with 14 points for the Eagles, and Matt Massengill and Graham tallied 6 points each. Murchison, Graham and Eian Hines all bombed in 3-point shots for East Bladen.

The Eagles are now 2-3 in the Four County and 6-7 overall. East Bladen will host Union Friday night.
