BLADENBORO – Red Springs raced to a 27-5 first quarter lead en route to a 72-44 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball over West Bladen Tuesday night.

Senior Jordan Ferguson sparked the early Red Devil run with a pair of 3-point shots. Junior Shy’Ron Adams nailed a 3-point shot, and freshman Gary Parker and senior Nijeah McKoy made free throws for the West points.

Senior Tyre Boykin rallied the Knights with a 3-point bomb, a pair of 2-point baskets and 4 free throws in the second quarter. Junior Jadacus Register threw in a basket and a free throw, senior Tra’shawn Ballard tossed in a basket, and junior Josh Lewis cashed in free throws for West.

Junior Jowuan Baker kept Red Springs on top 40-23 at halftime with a pair of 3-balls and 2 other baskets.

Boykin buried a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw in the third period. Register and Lewis dropped in baskets, but Red Springs held a 55-33 lead.

Boykin knocked down 6 free throws in the final quarter and led all scorers with 23 points. Junior Donovan Stone delivered a 3-point shot, and freshman Deonte Lacy powered in a basket.

Baker led the Red Devils with 20 points. Senior Traveze Billinger followed with 12 points, and Ferguson finished with 10 points.

The Knights, now 4-11, will travel to Lakewood Wednesday night.
