ST PAULS – St. Pauls rode the inside play of 6-8 senior Marcus Galbreath and 6-9 freshman Tyson Thompson to an early 21-7 lead en route to a 66-50 Southeastern Athletic Conference boys basketball victory over West Bladen Tuesday night.

Sophomore Hezekiah Adams tossed in a pair of buckets for the Knights in the opening period. Sophomore Chase Williams popped in a basket, and senior Gary Parker hit a free throw.

Williams, a 6-7 sophomore, worked inside for 3 baskets and 2 free throws in the 2nd period. Parker threw in a basket and 2 free throws, and Adams added a basket as the Knights trimmed the margin to 32-21 at halftime.

Osborne and Thompson tallied 3 points each in the 3rd quarter for the Bulldogs. Williams banged in 2 baskets and a free throw, freshman Jackson Pait nailed a 3-point shot, and Adams and freshman Tylik McCall recorded baskets to keep the Knights within 46-33 at the quarter break.

Adams, Pait and senior Walter Bealon bombed in 3-point shots for West in the final period. Adams and junior Cornelius Esters pumped in baskets, and Adams and Williams connected on 2 free throws each.

However Osborne answered with 2 baskets and 2 free throws, senior Elijah Blanding made 4 of 4 free throws, and Thompson and sophomore Theo Setzer flipped in 2 baskets each to keep St. Pauls on top.

Osborne led the Bulldogs with 16 points, Thompson followed with 15 points, Blanding totaled 11 points, and Galbreath posted 10 points.

Williams led all scorers with 17 points for the Knights, and Adams was right behind him with 15 points. Pait finished with 6 points, and Parker chipped in with 5.

West Bladen, now 2-3 in SAC-7 play and 11-6 overall, will entertain Midway Friday night. St. Pauls, now 4-1 in the SAC-7 and 8-9 overall, will travel to East Bladen Friday night.
